Our Amazing Student Council
A Student Council is a representative structure for pupils, through which they can become more involved in the life of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the whole school community.
The aim of the Student Council in Radharc na Mara is to support and encourage the pupils to make meaningful contributions to decision-making within the school and to help them learn about how democracy works. A student council is a medium which helps to ensure all pupils’ voices are heard.
Each year group has two representatives on the Student Council, who represent their own class and also take responsibility for the junior and senior infant classes in the school.
The Student Council meet several times throughout the year. The meetings are facilitated by a teacher with council representatives collecting ideas and suggestions for the agenda from each class ahead of each meeting. Suggestions are then discussed, prioritised and are brought to the attention of the principal and the staff.
Well done to our Student Council who are responsible for a number of positive changes in our school.
