The Amber Flag promotes positive mental health and wellbeing for all the children in the school. Positive mental health is important to us as it enables us to lead happy, fulfilling lives. The Amber Flag encourages everyone to be caring and considerate to one another and bring about an improvement in our wellbeing.
In order to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at our school, we are all working together to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and wellbeing. We received our third Amber Flag. Well done to all the children!We were also awarded The Daily Mile Flag. Great work everyone! We are proud of the work we are doing on looking after our wellbeing. Each year, we have a wellness week and the children discover lots of fun activities to build their self-esteem, confidence, growth mindset and resilience. The children really enjoy learning about looking after their bodies and minds. Some of the activities we do are dance, soccer, rugby, hurling, mindfulness, yoga, mindful jars, wellness themed stories, smoothies, penalty shoot outs, fitness bootcamps, aerobics, bend stretch and grow, library visits, adoration, healthy eating, kindness challenges, positive thoughts, rock painting, daily mile, sensory boxes, outdoor disco, skipathon, internet safety, Garda safety, healthy heart, wellbeing poster competition, mindful walks, fundraisers, feel good movies and lots more! Our Feelings Chart Smoothies Sensory Boxes and Mindful Jars Yoga Fun Mindfulness on Mondays Dance Garda Talks on Staying Safe Internet Safety Presentation Dentist Visit Creative Writing – The Red Balloon Bend Stretch and Grow Wellbeing Poster Competition Healthy Eating Talks and Healthy Heart Presentation Skipathon Sending Love The children sent Christmas cards to the residents in local nursing homes to wish them a happy Christmas and let them know we are thinking about them and praying for them. Kindness Trees The children use Trees of Kindness in classs to promote friendship, gratitude and kind acts. Feelings Jars and Positivity Challenges The children love to read books about their wellbeing. Our school has raised almost €1,000 for Pieta House. Well done everyone! |
