Mathematics is the study of the relationships, connections and patterns around us and greatly enhances our capacity to understand and engage with the world around us.  Skills in Numeracy help children to make informed and responsible choices and decisions throughout their lives.

In Radharc na Mara School children are encouraged and supported to have a positive attitude to Mathematics and to develop their mathematical understanding, language, communication skills, perseverance and resilience, interactions and expressions.

We encourage the children in our school to participate in a wide range of purposeful and playful activities that promote mathematical thinking such as 'Think Aloud' and 'Maths Talk' together and to express their thoughts and ideas in multiple contexts, individually in pairs and groups in various contexts. Maths Recovery, Ready Set Go Maths, STEM activities and Maths for Fun initiatives are embedded throughout the school. We are fortunate to have many parents help and support in the classroom with ‘Maths Games’ and activities during Maths Week. Such engagement results in our children interacting and collaborating to solve real and complex problems.
