Polish School
The Polish school was established in Galway in 2009 and is one of the biggest Polish ethnic schools in Ireland with over 200 students. We teach all ages from preschool to secondary school. Children come to school every Saturday morning for 4 hours. Teaching for us is a pleasure but requires extra commitment from the students. They all have different levels of knowledge of the Polish language. Some never hear the language spoken at home, and some communicate with their parents only in Polish.
Our main goals are to teach the language and culture of Poland, but also for children to learn about and to respect other cultures, languages, races, and religions. The students of the Polish School in Galway can expect a positive learning environment, where they are welcomed and can learn and socialise through the medium of the Polish language. All our teachers are highly qualified and accredited by the Polish Ministry of Education. They are very enthusiastic about sharing their language skills, talents and experience with young Polish students. We also organize programs, courses and events that highlight Polish and the Polish-Irish culture, connections and accomplishments. Thanks to the amazing hospitality of our hosts, we have the largest Polish library in the West of Ireland. We are proud to have over 12,000 books in Polish in the school library available to the students and their parents. We are also proud to be among the winners of The European Language Label (ELL) Award in 2016. Since 15th April 2012, Polish School in Galway has been a member of the Polish Educational Society in Ireland.
