Incredible Years and Dina School in Radharc na Mara The Incredible Years programme is a behaviour management programme developed in America. It has statistically proven results to increase good behaviour in children and to decrease negative behaviour. It helps children to do their best in school. Galway City Partnership has adopted this programme for the schools that they are involved with and Radharc na Mara is lucky to be the base school that they have chosen to work with by implementing a whole school approach.
The Incredible Years have different types of programmes and many of these are being used in Radharc na Mara. The main characters in the programme are Dina Dinosaur and her friends Wally, Molly and Tiny Turtle. They come to visit the Junior Infant and Senior Infant classes every week in Dina School. The children love when Dina, Wally, Molly and Tiny Turtle come to visit. They teach the children lots of very important skills and they always have great fun!
Dina is the principal of Dina School. She teaches the children how to do their best in school. Wally teaches the classes how to detect feelings and how to solve problems. He is a great detective and a super problem solver. Tiny Turtle teaches the children how to stay calm, even when they feel angry or upset. Molly teaches the classes how to be polite, kind and friendly. She is an amazing friend to all the children.
The teachers and children in Radharc na Mara feel very lucky and happy to have Dina School take place in our school. It helps us all to work together and to have fun too! We all love Dina and Wally and all the wonderful things they teach us and help us with.
