‘Play Works For Every Kid’ is the slogan of Playworks.  At Radharc na Mara Primary School we create a place for every pupil on our spacious playgrounds to feel included, be active and build valuable social and emotional skills. We introduced playground activities to enhance yard time and to give the children in our school more opportunities to be creative, have fun and play with each other. We have 30 trained young boys and girls from 5th and 6th class involved as mentors to the younger children in various yards.  The Yard Squad lead, monitor and organise the games in 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes.  The Junior Coaches wear high vis jackets and choose a Yard Star of the Week in collaboration with the teachers and SNA’s.

We meet regularly to review and reflect on activities. Our school community believes safe and healthy play is an effective way to build a more fair and equitable future for all kids. It is our mission to improve the health and well-being of all children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play on our school grounds.
 
Our Yard Motto is simple “Kind Hands, Kind Words, Kind Feet!”
